Title : Spin-multipole effects in binary black holes and the test-body limit

Abstract : We discuss the effects of the black holes’ spin-multipole structure in the dynamics of binary black holes, focusing on an effective action description of the conservative dynamics (to the extent to which this can be defined). We explore what can be learned from the motion of a "test black hole" (a test body with the spin-multipole structure of a black hole) in the Kerr spacetime, and we make comparisons between results from the test-black-hole limit and those of post-Newtonian calculations of higher-order spin effects.
